When: Saturday, July 19, 2025 @ 5:00 PM
Where: Excite Ballpark
Our pack will be attending Scout Night with the San Jose Giants on July 19th. In addition to watching our Giants take on the Modesto Nuts, the evening will be filled with many other fun activities: a pregame parade on the field for our Cub Scouts, an opportunity to run the bases after the game, a campout on the outfield, a nighttime movie on the jumbotron, and a light breakfast the following morning.
The game is at Excite Ballpark on Saturday July 19th at 5:00 PM. You can join us for just the game, or stay for the campout and experience all of the fun activities. Tickets are $17 for the game only, or $33 for the game + campout.
I have reserved a block of tickets so our pack can sit together. Our seats are along the 1st base line, and this section does get some nice shade in the evening. Once all tickets are claimed, you can still attend the game, but will likely not be able to sit near our pack. The sign up deadline is Thursday July 10. After that point, all ticket sales are final and cannot be refunded.
Please use this sign up link to reserve and pay for your tickets.
I look forward to seeing your family at the game!
Arrival - Parking is available at the nearby SJSU Garage, 1278 S 10th St, San Jose, CA. The gates open at 4:00 PM, and the first pitch is at 5:00 PM. I suggest you arrive early, as there is a pre-game parade on the field for Scouts in uniform. There is also a promotional giveaway to the first 1,000 fans (an exclusive "Copa Campeones" ring). Please click here to review the stadium's clear bag policy and list of prohibited items.
Weather - The forecast shows a high of 81 degrees on Saturday. Our seats are not directly shaded, but should receive some shade later in the day.
Uniforms - I suggest that Scouts wear their class A uniform. If that is too uncomfortable during the event, the blue Pack 508 t-shirt is also acceptable. Family members should also wear their Pack 508 t-shirts, if they have them.
Food - The stadium has a number of food options available. Please see the stadium map for more info. As a reminder, alcohol consumption is not permitted at Scouting events, per the Scouting America guidelines.
Campout tickets - Your game ticket is also your campout ticket. You must hang onto your game ticket, as you will need to show it again to enter the campout.
Entering the campout - At the end of the game, everyone must exit the stadium. You will then be allowed to park your car in the small parking lot behind the outfield (enter from Alma Ave). If you're able to park here during the game itself, that would be ideal, as you won't need to re-park. You can then carry your camping gear and enter through a gate directly onto the outfield.
Supplies - Here are some suggestions on what to bring. This is a short overnight event, so you don't need to bring a lot.
Tent (NO STAKES are allowed)
Sleeping bag, mattress pad, pillow, etc
Outdoor blanket or chairs, to watch the movie on the jumbotron
Clothes and toiletries
A wagon to transport your supplies from the car to the outfield is helpful
Ear plugs, if noise bothers you when trying to sleep
Sleeping mask, if dim light bothers you when trying to sleep (they will keep the field perimeter lights on all night)
A small flashlight is handy, but don't bother with too many lights, it won't get too dark
Itinerary
After the game, exit the stadium, park in the outfield lot, and carry your supplies onto the outfield.
Set up your tent.
Small snacks were provided before the movie last year. I'd suggest eating your main dinner during the baseball game. If you think you'll be hungry later, you might want to bring your own snacks to the campout.
Movie time. I don't know what will be playing. The last two years it was The Sandlot and Angels in the Outfield.
Get ready for bed. The regular stadium restrooms were open and available all night last year.
In the morning, some light grab-n-go breakfast items are provided.
