Hi Pack 508 Families,
Before we all head off into the summer, I'd like to take a moment to look back on our past Scouting year.
Hopefully you will all agree that Pack 508 has had a great year! Here are a few highlights:
We welcomed 11 new Scouts into our pack!
We awarded 36 badges of rank to our Scouts, a great achievement!
11 of our Arrow of Light Scouts are continuing their adventure, and have joined a Scouts BSA troop!
4 new adults became registered leaders!
We had a year packed with many great activities! Here are just a few high points to recognize:
Our pack continued to place camping at the forefront with 4 campouts, much more than most other Cub Scout packs! We also camped at Arroyo Seco, a new location for our pack, and had tons of fun playing in the river, fishing in the lake, and enjoying some delicious burgers!
We participated in Scouting For Food for the second time. We broke last year's record, and collected an amazing 894 pounds of food! All of this helps families in need in our local community.
We continued our community involvement and service, by assembling hygiene kits for the homeless, laying wreaths to honor veterans, collecting food for the needy, cleaning up trash at Saratoga elementary school, donating items to help local children's hospitals, and participating in Saratoga Nights and Scout-O-Rama festivals.
In addition to our pack's outstanding Pinewood Derby, some of our Scouts represented Pack 508 at the district level, and brought home an amazing 5 trophies!
Of course, none of this would be possible without all of our wonderful volunteers!
Our amazing den leaders, who tirelessly work to create a fun and engaging program for our kids. Thank you Madeleine, Eric, Deirdre, Matt, James D, James C, and Jerad!
Our committee members who are working behind the scenes to ensure that everything is running smoothly. Thank you Thiru, Deirdre, Harish, Jackson, Erik, and John!
Our popcorn kernels, whose fundraising efforts ensure that we can have an amazing program for our kids. Thank you Deepali, Shazia, and Rajitha!
Our grubmasters who kept us all fed and happy at our campouts. Thank you Shazia and Ale!
Our pinewood derby volunteers, who ensured a fun and smooth race for our Scouts. Thank you James D, Scott, Matt, Thiru, Renuka, Tae, Majid, Ale, Jerad, Netta, and Eran!
Our Blue & Gold Celebration organizers. Thank you Jackie, Tiffany, and Thiru!
Our Scout-O-Rama booth volunteers. Thank you Scott, Vyju, Jerad, Harish, and James D!
Our Scouting For Food organizers. Thank you Arrow of Light den!
Our Raingutter Regatta organizers. Thank you Webelos den!
Our Winter Carnival organizers. Thank you Bear den!
Our Hygiene Kits Service Project organizers. Thank you Wolf den!
Our Year End Picnic organizers. Thank you Tiger den!
Our den chiefs, who help to inspire our Cub Scouts to continue in their Scouting adventure. Thank you Caitlin, Jemma, Joe, Michael, and Owen!
With so many people helping out in so many ways, it's hard to keep track of it all! My deepest apologies if I have missed an event or volunteer above. I know that so many of our pack families help out in so many different ways, and your contributions are greatly appreciated. It's only with all of us pulling together that we're able to make Pack 508 a fun, enriching, and special place for our kids.
This also closes out my second year as Cubmaster of Pack 508. It has been such a great privilege for me to serve in this role, and I look forward to continuing the adventure with all of you in the next Scouting year!
